CONSTEEL Construction sp. z o.o. established cooperation with a French consortium NOVARKA Joint Venture, which consists of two leading construction companies in the world – Vinci Construction Grands Projets i Bouygues Travaux Publics.
For nearly 2 years, CONSTEEL Construction has been the leader in electrical works during the construction of the new sarcophagus over reactor 4 at Chernobyl. This is the largest movable structure ever built in the world. The erected arch is designed to safeguard the remnants of the reactor explosion for the next hundred years.
The new construction is 257 m wide, 162 m long and 108 m high. Several hundred companies from over 30 countries participated in its construction, of which only three companies were from Poland, including CONSTEEL Construction. The total value of the NOVARKA project is over EUR 1.5 billion. The construction was created thanks to donations from over 40 countries. Among the donors was also Poland, which in 2011 donated 1.5 million Euros to the Chernobyl Fund. The financing of the construction project was managed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
